Much of the Lower Mainland, including parts of the North Shore, received a first taste of the fluffy white stuff Thursday night as temperatures dipped to zero, turning rain to snow.

Much of the Lower Mainland, including parts of the North Shore, received a first taste of the fluffy white stuff Thursday night as temperatures dipped to zero, turning rain to snow.

About two centimetres fell in low-lying areas, with more at higher altitudes, according to Environment Canada. Much of it had turned to slush by Friday morning.

Forecasters were calling for more flurries during the day Friday, with temperatures falling again over the weekend as the skies clear, before rising once more toward the end of Sunday, bringing back rain for the remainder of the week.
