Most North Shore residents say they plan to get out and vote today

It's election day and polls are open to 7 p.m.

North Shore News polled 495 North Shore News readers and asked the question: Will you vote in the federal election?

The vast majority of readers who responded from North and West Vancouver said they do plan to vote in the election. Although almost 10 per cent also said they either wouldn't vote or weren't sure.

The poll ran from 9/16/2021 to 9/20/2021. Of the 495 votes, we can determine that 189 are from within the community. The full results are as follows:

Yes. It's everyone's civic duty to vote and one of the most important ways we participate in our democracy. 90.48 % local, 88.08 % total    
Maybe. Politicians are mostly the same when they're in office and I don't know if my vote will change anything. 3.17 % local, 4.04 % total    
No. I'm not interested in going to the polls during a pandemic for an election that was unnecessary. 6.35 % local, 7.88 % total
