A missing North Vancouver teen who sparked a large-scale police search Monday night has been found safe and sound, according to the RCMP.
Milena Nordwall, 17, vanished from her home in the 400-block of East 15th Street at about 9:30 p.m. Monday while she was having dinner with her parents. The disappearance caused serious concern for her family and for authorities, because she was inadequately dressed and because an ongoing medical condition meant she was considered a risk to herself and to others.
Police officers and a dog team scoured the neighbourhood for much of the night without success.
On Tuesday morning, the North Vancouver RCMP put out a plea to the public for tips, and just after 6 p.m. they announced they had found Nordwall unharmed.
No other details were released.
