North Vancouver RCMP are looking for tips from the public after a missing man's car was found abandoned in a parking lot at Grouse Mountain.

Michael St. Laurent, 45, vanished Oct. 13 after he apparently drove his grey 1987 Volvo to the gravel parking lot near the base of the Grouse Skyride and left it there. When no one came back to pick up the car, the incident was reported to police.

Mounties are investigating St. Laurent's disappearance, but have not yet tapped rescuers to launch a full-scale search.

Tim Jones, team leader of North Shore Rescue, said the organization is typically not activated until there is some indication that a person was hiking or engaged in some other outdoor activity in a specific area when they went missing. It's not clear in this case where the man went after leaving his vehicle, however.

St. Laurent is Caucasian, five feet 11 inches tall, 170 pounds with brown hair and hazel eyes.

Anyone who believes they may have seen him is asked to contact the North Vancouver RCMP at 604-985-1311.
