NORTH Vancouver RCMP have confirmed that a hiker who fell to his death in North Vancouver's backcountry Wednesday was 22-year-old German exchange student Jasper Houben.
Houben had been reported missing on Monday.
Hikers in the area spotted the man's body Wednesday afternoon down a steep incline near the Dreamweaver Trail, not far from Mosquito Creek, just before the sixth switchback.
Members of North Shore Rescue helped in the recovery of the remains Wednesday evening. The operation required a longline mechanism.
Police said there is no indication of foul play.
The coroner's service has taken over the investigation. Next of kin have since been notified.
