This revolutionary approach to the news was launched in our paper on Feb. 8 and since then we have been adding all kinds of extras to every issue.
Glacier Media, the parent company that owns the North Shore News and many other publications, is the first media company to use Layar across its properties. Whether you are a resident of the North Shore, Burnaby, Surrey or any other community in the Lower Mainland, you will find layared content in your local paper.
Using the Layar app allows the newspaper to provide much more than it has traditionally been able to do with its normal print version. If there is a house fire featured on the front page we can now show you more photos that were taken at the scene. If you are reading a review of a new movie, we can show you a trailer for that film. If you are reading the story about your son's basketball game we can show you more photos, video clips and links to standings.
Many of the advertisers in our paper are using Layar to add extra information about their business. You can see more photos of products for sale, find out more about their services and even discover special offers and discounts.
You can find Layar in your app store or by visiting layar. com. Simply download the app onto your iPhone, iPad or Android smartphone or tablet. Then all you need to do is point your device at the layered content in the newspaper, which is clearly identified with the Layar logo, and interactive buttons will appear on your screen. Click on any of these buttons to be taken to video clips, photo galleries, website links and more.
