NORTH Vancouver's Martin Jones is getting a taste of Stanley Cup hockey with the upsetminded Los Angeles Kings as they plow through the best of the West on their way to the final.

Jones was one of 10 players called up to the join the Kings after the Manchester Monarchs, L.A.'s minor-league affiliate, were eliminated from play in the American Hockey League.

The call-ups aren't seeing much action in Stanley Cup games but they are expected to contribute in practice with Jones, a goaltender, playing an important role in spelling starter Jonathan Quick in drills and scrimmages.

Jones posted a record of 18-17-2-1 with the Monarchs this year with a 2.60 goals-against average and 0.919 save percentage.

The Monarchs were knocked out in the opening round of the Calder Cup playoffs, losing to the Norfolk Admirals three games to one. Jones played two games in the series, posting a 1-1 record with a 2.33 GAA and 0.933 save percentage.

Signed by the Kings in 2008 after going undrafted, Jones has yet to appear in an NHL game. The 22-year-old was named the Western Hockey League's goaltender of the year after the 2009-10 season.
