Transit police have a safety campaign for bus drivers, there's a phone app for riders to instantly report incidents, and educational workshops with foreign students to raise awareness of transit safety. Last year, 134 transit assaults were reported in Metro Vancouver, up from 117 the year prior. Earlier this month, a transit user got house arrest for repeatedly punching a North Van bus driver in the head.
