Homicide ruled out in body found on Bowen Island

AN autopsy has confirmed a body found last week on Bowen Island was that of a man who had been missing for several months. Police have identified the man, but have not released the name, pending notification of family members. Cpl.

AN autopsy has confirmed a body found last week on Bowen Island was that of a man who had been missing for several months.

Police have identified the man, but have not released the name, pending notification of family members.

Cpl. Nancy Joyce of the Bowen Island RCMP detachment said the man was not from Bowen Island.

Joyce said the mans death was not as a result of foul play.

Its believed the death was probably a suicide.

Police on the island were called out May 18 at around 2 p.m. by a local resident who had discovered the body on his land, a wooded property in the 1,000-block of Harding Road.

Joyce said the Coroners Service is expected to release the name of the deceased later today or tomorrow.
