A North Vancouver teen miraculously escaped serious injury on the weekend after he crashed naked through a plateglass window and ran through the Upper Lynn area while reportedly hallucinating on magic mushrooms.

A 17-year-old stripped off his clothes and crashed through the window at about 4: 30 p.m. Saturday afternoon after taking a "significant amount" of the hallucinogen, together with marijuana, according to Cpl. Richard De Jong, a spokesman for the North Vancouver RCMP. He then ran covered in blood down upper Mountain Highway in an "emotionally and mentally distressed" state, to the shock of some onlookers.

After searching the area, police found the youth and were able to calm him down. The distraught young man was handcuffed and taken to hospital in an ambulance.

"(His injuries) appeared more serious than they were, but the glass shards caused numerous cuts on his body," said De Jong.

Joe Bell, a Whistler resident who has been staying in the area, thought the man was covered in red paint when he first saw him on Mountain Highway at Evelyn Street.

"I kind of heard him say, I believe . . . 'I don't know what's happening, can someone help me?' " said Bell. He and several other residents who saw the man called 911.
