North Shore residents who use the Greyhound to visit all points up the Sea to Sky Corridor may have to find a new place to get all aboard.

The company is eliminating its stop on Taylor Way near Park Royal.

The B.C. Passenger Transportation Board announced last week it had agreed to a number of requested service cuts around the province including four stops on its Vancouver-Pemberton route: West Vancouver, Britannia Beach, Pinecrest and Black Tusk.

Ridership at the West Vancouver stop fluctuated over the years from 305 in 2014 to 356 last year. It peaked in 2016 with 397 passengers, according to the company.

“…Passenger volumes for the route points it proposes to eliminate are low and do not justify the time it takes to stop,” the company stated in its request to the Passenger Transportation Board. “Eliminating them will enable it to reduce the duration of trips and make the service more appealing to passengers and help increase ridership.”

North Vancouver resident Linda Munro lamented the loss of the stop, which she used to use for visiting friends in Whistler.

“People complain about all the car traffic on the Sea to Sky Highway but with no train and now less bus service, people are left with no choice than to drive a car,” she said.
