Friday Sunshine Coast travellers can breathe a sigh of relief.

After cancelling four Friday Route 3 sailings between Langdale and Horseshoe Bay in a Thursday evening service notice, BC Ferries reinstated those sailings early Friday morning.

The four affected sailings were:

  • 8:40 am departing Langdale
  • 9:50 am departing Horseshoe Bay
  • 11:00 am departing Langdale
  • 12:10 pm departing Horseshoe Bay

BC Ferries had explained that the cancellations were because of a staff shortage.

"We require a specific number of crew members on board the vessel to ensure the safety of our passengers in the unlikely event of an emergency and to comply with Transport Canada regulations," said the Thursday service notice.

"The decision to cancel a sailing in these circumstances is made when we have exhausted all options to find replacement crew," said the Thursday notice.
