Two young men arrested in connection with an alleged kidnapping and homicide case in North Vancouver will ask a judge to grant them bail Monday afternoon.

Lawyers for Dyllan James Green, 20, and Jacob Michael Gorelik, 18, said they plan to seek release on bail for their clients. Both are charged with improperly interfering with a dead body, in connection with a man found dead in the 900 block of Wellington Drive in the early hours of Sept. 29.

Two others charged in the case – Casey James Hiscoe, 21 and Tianyi Zhang, 23, have also both been charged with interfering with a body and with kidnapping a man named Peng Sun with intent to hold him for ransom between Sept. 27 and 29.

They are expected to remain in custody.

Police have not confirmed the identity of Sun as the man found dead in North Vancouver Tuesday – possibly inside a white Bentley that was the focus of investigation by officers from the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team.

None of the men has been charged with killing the man found dead this week.

But outside the court, Crown counsel Brian MacFarlane said he expects additional charges in the case are likely.

All four accused made a brief appearance in North Vancouver provincial court Friday afternoon. Family and friends of the accused were in court for the appearance. A woman who described herself as a friend of the victim was also in the gallery, although she declined to comment further.

Two people who showed up to the court appearance left in a vehicle bearing consular licence plates.

Later, a spokeswoman for the Chinese consulate in Vancouver said her office is assisting the RCMP to determine if the victim in the case is a Chinese citizen.

So far, police have released few details about the case, including whether there is a connection between Sun and any of the accused.

Police have said they believe the homicide was targeted.

So far, no information has been released about where Sun was kidnapped or held for two days.

Sgt. Stephanie Ashton said Thursday police converged on Wellington Drive around 3 a.m. Tuesday morning in response to an active investigation involving multiple jurisdictions across the Lower Mainland.

On Tuesday morning, police blocked off the 900-block of Wellington and removed at least two cars from the scene, including a white Bentley and a newer model Chevrolet Malibu.

Neighbours said they had recently noticed the white Bentley as a new car parked on the street.

All four accused were arrested at the scene on Tuesday.
