A section of the City of North Vancouver’s cenotaph in Victoria Park was damaged Thursday after a driver veered off the road and crashed through Victoria Park

According to police, a woman driving on Keith Road around 3 p.m. went into medical distress immediately before the crash.

Her vehicle struck a monument that lists the names of local casualties from the Second World War.

No one else was hurt, according to police.

In a statement, city spokeswoman Stephanie Smiley said that city staff are aware of the damage and will have it repaired as soon as possible.
