First responders are dealing with a possible electrocution of a dog at Lonsdale Quay Friday.

“We’re looking into an incident down at Lonsdale Quay – possibly live wires,” said Staff Sgt. Philip Yong.

The incident happened between the Bean Around the World coffee shop and the loading bay on Carrie Cates Court. The area is now cordoned off.

“At this point I can say a woman was with her dog and it sounds like the dog is deceased,” Yong said.

Witnesses reported first responders attempting to resuscitate the dog. Mark Teasedale was on the scene shortly after it happened.

“They walked over a manhole and the manhole electrocuted the dog” Teasedale said. “I think the dog got it pretty bad.”

Teasdale said it appears that construction work was being done near the site.

“There are basically loose wires that are hanging right out of the top of the manhole,” he said.
