Did you buy this $5-million winning Lotto 6/49 ticket in North Vancouver?

The big prize hasn't been claimed yet, while another North Vancouver ticket holder won a $100K prize in the March 25 draw

Someone is getting some very good news.

A person who bought a Lotto 6/49 ticket in North Vancouver for Wednesday night’s draw has won a $5-million jackpot.

The ticket was the only one in Canada that matched all six winning numbers of 9, 10, 12, 17, 30, and 45 to win the Classic Jackpot, according to the British Columbia Lottery Corp.

The odds of winning are one in 13,983,816.

“All lottery prize winners have 52 weeks from the draw date printed on their ticket to come forward to claim their prize,” BCLC said in a statement. “The specific retail location where the winning lottery ticket was purchased, and the lottery winners’ name(s) will be announced after the winner has come forward to claim their prize.”

Lotto 6/49 is a nationwide lottery game drawn on Wednesdays and Saturdays after 7:30 p.m. (PDT). Players can check their lottery tickets anytime on Apple and Android smartphones via BCLC’s Lotto! app.

North Vancouver resident wins $100K prize

It’s likely not the same person. But North Vancouver resident Andrew Marlowe is celebrating his $100,000 prize from the Lotto 6/49 draw on March 25.

“This will for sure change my life,” said Marlowe, who is a new parent. “It sets us up as a new family to get where we want to go.”

He bought his ticket at McNews near 15th Street on Lonsdale Avenue, and found out he won by using the Lotto! app.

“I was most excited to share the news with my partner. She told me to be quiet because the baby was sleeping and she thought I was joking,” he said in a statement.

Marlowe has plans to celebrate his win over a fancy champagne dinner. Aside from that, he said much of the winnings will go toward buying a new home, with a portion going to local charities.

In January, BCLC reported that lottery players won more than $113 million from Lotto 6/49. The Crown corporation earned $1.3 billion in net income in its 2021-22 fiscal year.
