NORTH Vancouver RCMP have confirmed that a hiker who fell to his death in North Vancouvers backcountry Wednesday was 22-year-old German exchange student Jasper Houben.
Houben had been reported missing on Monday.
Other hikers reported spotting the mans body Wednesday afternoon down a steep incline near the Dreamweaver Trail in the area of Mosquito Creek.
The coroners service said Thursday cause of death has not yet been determined. An autopsy is expected to be complete by the end of the week.
Were hoping to give the family some answers, said coroner Marj Paonessa.
Houbens family had flown in from Germany to help search for their son before his body was found.
Members of North Shore Rescue used a helicopter to assist police with the recovery of the body Wednesday evening.
Police said there is no indication of foul play.
The trail near to where Houben was found remains open and is not considered a hazard, police said.
