Traffic slowed to crawl on Taylor Way for a few hours Tuesday afternoon after a flatbed truck with a crane reportedly clipped the underside of an overpass at Park Royal Shopping Centre.

The accident happened around 12:45 p.m., knocking a piece of the surface concrete cladding loose. A structural engineer who examined the overpass determined the structure had not been damaged, but the traffic was reduced to alternating lanes with intermittent closures while crews removed the piece of damaged cladding.

The driver of the flatbed truck did not stay at the scene. West Vancouver Police have a couple of images taken with cell phones, said Const. Jeff Palmer, spokesman for the department, and are working to identify the truck and driver.
