Council OKs continued renos at north mall

West Van council has approved development permit amendments to allow Park Royal to continue renovations to its north mall.

West Van council has approved development permit amendments to allow Park Royal to continue renovations to its north mall.

So far the mall’s  redevelopment has included the construction of Loblaws City Market, an extension to the rooftop parkade and facade work.

The amendments allow for “the associated exterior changes that affect facade treatments, access, loading, and signage,” according to a report by West Vancouver planner Lisa Berg.

In terms of the signage, the mall requested a letter height increase from 2 to 3.5 feet for retail stores that are 20,000 square feet or larger that would bring it closer in line with the south mall located on Squamish Nation land, where maximum letter height is five feet.

Park Royal’s longer term plans are to reconfigure the north mall layout over time.
