North Vancouver RCMP officers are hunting two men who robbed a convenience store at knifepoint early Monday morning.

The Mounties were called to the 7-11 store at Third Street and Chesterfield just before 4:30 a.m. According to witnesses, two men entered the store wearing shiny masks over their faces and brandishing large knives. They threatened the clerk and demanded cigarettes and cash from the till. The pair then fled on foot towards the Presentation House parking lot, where they may have gotten into a compact sports car.

A police search supported by a dog handler was unable to track down the suspects.

The first man is described as six feet tall with a medium build. He wore a dark hooded jacket and a shiny, glossy mask.

The second suspect is five-feet-six with a medium build. He was wearing a white T-shirt with some type of logo, blue pants and a royal blue mask. Witness say he had light brown skin tone.

The North Vancouver RCMP is asking for the publics assistance in identifying the two suspects, said detachment spokesman Cpl. Richard De Jong. Anyone with information on this robbery investigation is asked to call the North Vancouver RCMP at 604-985-1311 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Callers should mention file number 2012-12011.
