Canadian Federation of University Women - West Vancouver Branch: The CFUW is an organization committed to promoting education, improving women's status and human rights as well as offering fellowship and professional contacts. The North Shore Retired Teachers Association will hold a free interactive workshop entitled "Creating an Age Friendly Community" Tuesday, Oct. 18, 1 p.m. at Silver Harbour Centre, 144 East 22nd St., North Vancouver.

Drop-in Book Club: A new club will start Wednesday, Oct. 19 and meet every six weeks through June from 7 to 8: 30 p.m. at the North Vancouver City Library, 120 West 14th St. Interested participants can pick up a copy of the first meeting's book at the library's information desk and from then on books will be distributed at the end of each meeting for the following month's discussion.
