A Sept. 9 North Shore News story, New Year + Contract = Buoyant Teachers, incorrectly stated "For the first time, schools will also be allowed to exceed class size limits at the Grade 4 to 7 level."

In fact, class size limits at those grades could previously be exceeded with the teacher's consent.

Under new rules, a teacher's consent is not required and teachers whose classes exceed 30 at those grades will now be eligible for extra compensation (with some exceptions).

Teachers can take that as extra preparation time, extra pay, or extra professional development funding.
