A Vancouver man is facing child luring charges after police allege he sent inappropriate texts to the daughter of a co-worker.
West Vancouver police say William Kai Kong Lee, 34, met the teen at an office Christmas party three weeks ago in West Vancouver and requested her phone number without the girl’s mother knowing.
The mother later discovered a series of late-night text messages between the two on her daughter’s phone and alerted police. On Dec. 16, West Vancouver police arrested Lee. The Crown has sworn charges of invitation to sexual touching of a child under 16, making explicit material available to a child, luring a child and making an agreement to commit a sexual offence against a child.
Police say it’s important for parents to be aware of what their kids are getting up to on social media.
“Dialogue that fosters trust with your children is crucial,” said Const. Jeff Wood, West Vancouver police spokesperson.
