For this year's awards, there were 48 nominations in the six different categories.

LIGHTS, CAMERA, COMMUNITY ACTION

Mulgrave School's Grade 10 film students had the opportunity to partner with the West Vancouver Chamber of Commerce for their annual President's Dinner and Business Excellence Awards.

Student filmmakers were divided into groups of three and assigned a business or person that had been nominated for an award. The goal was to create a one-minute documentary profiling the nominee's accomplishments.

The student films were judged professionally by a member of the local film industry with the top three films receiving prizes. According to film teacher Lian Anson, "All the students involved agreed that they learned valuable skills, met some great people in the community and enjoyed a rich, authentic learning experience."

All 20 films were showcased at the April 18 awards ceremony. The top three filmmaking team award winners were as follows: Gold - John Barker by Boyd Borjiet, Omar Salemohamed and Connor Stanton; Silver - Nurse Next Door by Jena Roper, Angie Joannou, Daniela Martin and Ashleigh Kearns; and Bronze - DavidsTea by Curren Page, Richard Jung, Stephen Lynch, Eduard Manea and Marcus Hann.
