Kick off spring break with the powerful sounds of traditional Japanese taiko drums at the Britannia Mine Museum.

On Saturday, March 10 at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., the Sansho Daiko taiko drumming group will have two performances, showcasing a fresh approach to an ancient art form. Visitors will also be able to try the drums themselves.

Throughout spring break, March 10-25, the museum will have family-friendly programs themed around its "Stolen Lives: Remembering the Japanese Canadian Internment" special exhibit, which pays tribute to Japanese Canadians who were interned during the Second World War. This year marks the 70th anniversary of the Japanese Canadian internment.

Visitors can also enjoy the underground mine train and gold panning, and tour the historic 20-storey Mill building. The Britannia Mine Museum is open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with guided tours throughout the day.
