Sna7m: Strong Spirit at the Ferry Building Gallery

Sna7m: Strong Spirit kicked off with an opening ceremony at host venue the Ferry Building Gallery April 30. Organizers of the exhibition and series of events on First Nations art and storytelling are offering a host of related programming at the West Vancouver gallery until May 26. The opening evening, entitled Beginning Our Sacred Work, saw the arrival of canoes, a welcome and blessing ceremony, and bonfire and celebration. The exhibition features works by a number of artists including Xwalacktun and James Harry. Upcoming events include: a carving demonstration from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and a Mother's Day drum circle from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 12; We Are All One, a panel discussion, May 15; a carving demonstration May 19; and the closing ceremony May 26.
