Car share launch

Car2go is marking its expansion into North Vancouver with a special launch celebration and on-site registration event at Boston Pizza Esplanade this weekend.

As of Feb. 22, the car sharing company's home area grew from its existing zone in Vancouver to include the City of North Vancouver, adding 50 additional car2go edition smart fortwo vehicles to create a 450-car network.

The new boundaries extend as far north as East 29th Street, as far west as Capilano Road and as far east as Highway 1. A popup car2go shop is now located in Lonsdale Quay.

The car2go home area in B.C. now totals 82 square kilometres with free curbside and dedicated parking spots located throughout.

NV lawyers recognized

Paperclip Law Corporation, with offices in North Vancouver and Gastown, was nominated for Best Employer at the Successful You Awards but lost out to Langley's Chris's Sign Lighting Service Inc.

Fellow nominees in the same category included Pemberton Valley Lodge in Pemberton, Raised Eyebrow Web Studio Inc. in Vancouver and Williams and White in Burnaby.

Presented by Small Business BC, the Successful You Awards recognize B.C.'s leaders in small business and celebrate the contributions of entrepreneurs to their local communities and the broader global market. The awards are open to all new and existing small businesses across B.C. Each of the six award categories is nomination-based, with polls collecting public votes to determine the top 10 nominees. A panel of judges then narrows the finalists in each category down to five.

This year's winners were announced Feb. 28 at a gala celebration at the Pan Pacific Hotel in Vancouver.
