A man died on a North Vancouver trail Wednesday. The BC Coroners Service is now investigating.

The BC Coroners Service is investigating the death of a mountain biker on a Mount Fromme trail Wednesday.

Dog walkers came upon the man face down near his bike on a flat section near the bottom of Lower Expresso, a single-track mountain bike trail that ends at Dempsey Road.

When they saw he had no pulse, they called 911 and followed instructions to flip the man over and do chest compressions while first responders were on their way.

“We were on the scene very quickly as the person was not far up the trail,” said acting duty chief Kit Little. “[The bystanders] were working on the cyclist, and then we took over care, and then BC Ambulance assisted us.”

DogZen owner Marg LeSage said her daughter helped work on the mountain biker, a man in his 50s, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

“They could tell that he was pretty much gone by the time they rolled him over,” she said. ‘It’s a sad day.”

Because the death is considered not suspicious, RCMP have turned the investigation into the cause of death over to the BC Coroners Service.
