Award honours outstanding neighbours

WHETHER they replaced your tire when you got a flat, kept your pet alive when you were on vacation, or consistently offered the right of way when your two cars met on a narrow lane, you now have a chance to thank them.

LynnValleyLife has launched its first Good Neighbour award to celebrate small and large acts of kindness in Lynn Valley.

"It might be something special a person did for you, or it might be a contribution they made to the wider community," said LynnValleyLife publisher Jim Lanctot in a press release. "Either way, we'd like to hear about it, so that over the holiday season we can share stories of some of the good deeds that have taken place this past year."

Anyone who lives in Lynn Valley is eligible. Nominees do not need to be next-door neighbours.

Stories detailing each good neighbour will be shared on lynnvalleylife.com. The names of the best neighbours will be placed in a random draw.

The winner of the draw will be crowned Good Neighbour 2012 and receive dinner at Aristos Greek restaurant, a tour of the RCMP station, a one-month recreation centre pass, and a membership in the Lynn Valley Community Association, according to the release.

The resident who nominates the winning neighbour will receive a $25 gift certificate for Black Bear Neighbourhood Pub.

All entries must be received by Dec. 19. If you would like to nominate a neighbour, send the details, along with their name and contact information, to info@lynnvalleylife. com.
