MANY North Shore drivers will soon be taking their last trip through the North Vancouver AirCare centre after the province announced it will be ending the program in 2014.
The Ministry of the Environment announced Thursday it would be winding down the 20-year-old emissions testing program for passenger cars and trucks because of the changing nature of air pollution in the region. Newer model light-duty vehicles tend to burn cleanly, they said, arguing it will make more sense to focus on heavier, diesel-powered vehicles and equipment.
