3 drivers face 90-day bans for driving drunk

THREE wobbly motorists lost their driver's licences March 22 after failing a roadside sobriety test, according to a release from the North Vancouver RCMP.

All three were in excess of the legal limit and one was driving with an expired licence, according to North Vancouver RCMP spokesman Cpl. Richard De Jong. The three vehicles were impounded and the drivers were each issued 90-day driving prohibitions. In order to legally get back on the road, the drivers will each have to attend driving classes and pay for an ignition-interlock device to be installed on their cars.

"The penalties are harsh because this is a very selfish and irresponsible act that endangers the lives of our citizens," said North Van RCMP traffic unit commander Sgt. Dave Jewers in a press release. "If you drink and drive you are taking significant risks with immeasurable consequences, with weighty financial loss being certain!"
