Two North Shore philanthropists are set to be recognized for their numerous charitable works with the Order of British Columbia.
Sergio Cocchia and Robert Ho are among 13 British Columbians set to receive the award this year.
Robert Ho's $10 million donation to the Lion's Gate Hospital supported a new centre for psychiatric health. He previously gave $15 million to Vancouver General Hospital.
Cocchia, perhaps best known as a spa entrepreneur, has raised millions of dollars for charitable organization
throughout the province.
In 1987, Cocchia cofounded the Women's Media Golf Classic. In 25 years the annual event has raised more than $3 million to help children with special needs. Cocchia has also done numerous work for children with Down syndrome and hearing impairments.
The awards are scheduled to be handed out in a ceremony this fall.
