North Shore students show off their marketing skills by designing ads for local biz (PHOTOS)

North Shore News hosts fifth annual Let the Kids Design Your Ads feature

We recently asked some awesome elementary school students from across the North Shore to help us design some ads for our advertisers as part of our fifth annual Let the Kids Design Your Ads special feature.

Just like last year, the pandemic complicated things – though that was no match for the insightful and creative contributions students from grades 4-6 across North and West Vancouver were able to put together nonetheless.

To facilitate this feature, the students were first given a Marketing & Advertising 101 presentation via Zoom conference by North Shore News’ features co-ordinator Tannis Hendriks. Next, they had to read and consider creative briefs from their assigned advertisers, brainstorm ideas with their classmates, then work on creating their advertisements.

The ads printed in the feature were the ones selected by the advertiser for our May 26 edition of the newspaper, which included advertisers such as ice cream shops, local parliamentarians, libraries and many more.

To acknowledge and celebrate the efforts of all participating students, all of the ad submissions are available for viewing in the above photo gallery. Be sure to share far and wide!

The North Shore News would like to thank the teachers and students at: Highlands, Cove Cliff, Seymour Heights, Queensbury, Gleneagles, and École Pauline Johnson elementary schools for their excellent participation.

We wish to also thank our valued advertisers for supporting this fun and educational project.
