Charlie Winston - Running Still (Real World Records) Rating: 8 (out of 10)

On this follow-up to his successful second album, Hobo, Charlie Winston has produced an outstanding 12song collection. The opening track, "Hello Alone," feels like a natural transition from the compelling sound of "Like A Hobo," the hit song from the last album.

The second track, "Speak to Me," shows a new side of Winston. Filled with layers of beats with Winston's voice rising over it all, the song maintains a funky rhythm that you'll feel as much as hear.

The songs alternately slide gently from ballads as Winston sings of love and loss before turning up the groove again to bounce the bass-driven melody off your chest. Winston's voice is strong throughout and no matter if he is singing over a single piano or in front of a full band he sounds like that is exactly where he belongs. - Terry Peters
