Sculpture PARVI Z TANAVOLI West Vancouver sculptor profiled in The Guardian on Jan. 1: "Parviz Tanavoli: Iranian artist who made something out of nothing." Tanavoli, who splits his year between West Van, Tehran and Dubai, currently has his work on display at London's Tate Modern in The World Goes Pop exhibition, highlighting the influence of pop art outside the western world.

Painting peter aspell West Vancouver Museum presents Peter Aspell: Saints and Sinners, Mystics and Madness Jan. 13 to March 26. Opening Reception: January 12, 7 to 9 p.m. The exhibition is produced in collaboration with the Richmond Art Gallery (RAG), where a second exhibition, Peter Aspell: The Mad Alchemist, runs from Jan. 23 to April 3, 2016 (opening reception on Jan. 22, 7 to 9 p.m.) at the RAG.

Film Canada's Top Ten Film Festival Pacific Cinémathèque hosts Canada's Top Ten films of 2015, chosen by two panels - one for features, one for shorts - of Canadian filmmakers and film industry professionals Jan. 8 to 17. The series opens tonight at 8 p.m. with an introduction by director Mina Shum and producer Selwyn Jacob and a screening of Shum's film Ninth Floor, followed by a QA moderated by Sturla Gunnarsson.
