Did the Mayans get the date right? Is there an apocalypse around the corner? Bob Robertson offers his own hilarious take on the end of civilization in his latest book.

Thousands of years ago Mayans created a calendar that predicted December 21, 2012 as the end of the world. How that end comes is not told but that doesn't slow down Roberston's imagination. He addresses questions you likely never thought of before, like if the world stopped turning would a strong tether to a stake in your backyard be enough to stop you from floating off into space?

Roberston comes up with a punch line for all manner of disasters. If the world freezes over he speculates that Canadians would be well prepared because 'Canadian children, early on, learn how to build snow forts, and that kind of experience will be invaluable in preparing your accommodation for the coming eternal winter.'

The North Shore will have the chance to hear all about this topic on November 15 when Bob Roberston kicks off his book tour at 7 p.m. at the Capilano branch of the North Vancouver District Library, 3045 Highland Blvd.
