RY COODER
The Vancouver Folk Music Festival announced on Thursday that Ry Cooder and his band, including his son Joachim, will play the Main Stage on Sunday, July 15. Cooder has a new album, The Prodigal Son, set for release on May 15 via Fantasy Records. Recorded in Hollywood, CA, the album features songs of the Pilgrim Travelers, The Stanley Brothers, Blind Willie Johnson, and three new ones from Ry Cooder himself. The Phantom Thread soundtrack, composed by Radiohead guitarist Jonny Greenwood, has been nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Soundtrack. Greenwood recorded the music with a 60-piece orchestra The Oscars are telecast from L.A. on March 4 at 5 p.m. Jonny Greenwood and the London Contemporary Orchestra performing film scores and other compositions live at the Boiler Room in Manchester, UK.
