Wings and Wizards promises a magical experience this summer.

A 7,000 magical "entertainment experience" is coming to BC Place this summer.

"Wings and Wizards" is a family-oriented event happening throughout the summer in part of the downtown venue. The wizard and dragon theme is an original story from the organizers.

"Wings and Wizards is an interactive exhibit that merges world-building, art, tech, storytelling, and design to create a truly sublime magical adventure," states a press release. "Self-guided and touch-free, Wings and Wizards showcases the meeting point between technology and magic, making use of cutting-edge interactivity, such as motion tracking, proximity-based devices, lights, projections, props, and soundscapes — all to weave a truly spellbinding narrative experience."

People will be sent on a 45-minute journey from a wizard's academy to an enchanted forest to find a jewelled dragon egg using their trusty wand.

Opening date is currently set for June 8, though that is subject to change if new orders come from the public health office. Tickets go on sale this Thursday, May 13. Prices start at $65 and family packages will be available. Pods of six people (within their social bubble) will be allowed at a time.

It's being produced by SHINE Experiences along with three local production companies and was designed to work within B.C.'s COVID-19 protocols.

"The teams have come together to nurture a love of digital and light-based art in our communities, by focusing on intelligent, thoughtful, and playful pieces that drive curiosity and connection," states the event's website. "Separately and together, they have created rich multimedia experiences that engage both heart and the mind."
