- Dead Inside: Do Not Enter: Notes from the Zombie Apocaplypse. A Lost Zombies Book Chronicle Books, 176 pages, $22.95.
The Zombie Apocalypse has turned the world upside down. The dead roam the streets looking for the living to feed upon but in all the mayhem there is still attempts to stay in touch.
A backpack filled with paper containing messages that range from letters to frantic scribbling on a piece of cardboard is found. From those messages we are able to piece together an impression of what transpires after the epidemic takes hold.
Drawing from the social network site Lostzombies. com the editors have selected a brilliant collection of submissions that cover a huge range of emotions. The despair of a blood-stained sign stuck under a windshield wiper "Don't bother. Everyone is dead here" is offset by a the dark humour of a torn scrap of paper bearing the message, "I would literally kill for some French fries."
This very original take on what happens when the world is overrun by zombies is a real treasure for anyone entertained by the walking dead.
