JOSS Stone pranced onto the stage at the Commodore full of energy that spilled over into the audience.
Opening up with "(For God's Sake) Give More Power to the People," the second track off her latest album, Soul Sessions: Vol. 2, she had everyone pumping their fists in the air.
Stone followed with another song off the new album, "While You're Out Looking for Sugar," before mixing in some older material. She took the time to talk to the audience frequently and appeared genuinely delighted with all the applause and comments she received.
With her ten-piece band Stone had a great sound layered behind her amazing voice. Seeing her on stage it's hard to believe that such a petite young woman can have such a powerful voice. But she does and she uses it so well. Not content with just her 3 back up singers Stone got the entire audience singing on a number of songs and with an infectious enthusiasm worked the room to louder and louder choruses.
Stone drew from her full repertoire of songs including "You've Got the Love" by The Source, that fellow British singer Florence and the Machine also covered. She closed out her encore performance with an extended version of her hit, "Right to be Wrong," that saw Stone leave the stage first, followed in turn by the band after each enjoyed a moment in the spotlight until there were just the drummer and two guitarists to close out the night.
