Gallery set up to showcase a life's work

Daniel Izzárd's paintings on view in exhibition at Park Royal North

- 2012 Daniel Izzárd Exhibition, Park Royal North Unit #750 (just outside The Bay), Open seven days a week from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. (Sunday opening at 11 a.m.) until March 30.

WEST Vancouver artist Daniel Izzárd (19232007) painted for more than half a century and a good selection of his work will be on view in Park Royal North until the end of March.

Born in London, England, Izzárd served in the Royal Navy from 1942-1947 and moved to Canada in 1952. He travelled the world searching out material for his paintings which include scenes from Canada, Europe, Asia, Latin America, North Africa and the Middle East.

In January 1986 he became the oldest heart transplant recipient in Canada and in January, 1988 was recognized by West Vancouver council as one of West Vancouver's Outstanding Achievers over the previous 75 years.

"It's a show in honour of Daniel (and his legacy)," says Izzárd's wife Pilar. "Many people today don't know his work. We will be open until 6 o'clock every day with part of the proceeds going to the Heart and Stroke Foundation."

There are close to 30 works up on the gallery walls currently including a painting he did of Anna Wyman ballerinas backstage at Centennial Theatre getting ready to perform.

During the run of the exhibition the paintings will change to show the full spectrum of his work.

Local sculptor Mario Armitano also has some of his work on view during the exhibit.

A second room in the gallery will feature sketches and limited edition prints of Izzárd's work. For more information visit www.danielizzard.com.
