Edgemont Village creations dazzle during 2021 Vancouver Mural Festival

The festival is on now until Aug. 22
In case you’ve missed it so far, Edgemont Village has been especially bright and vibrant lately.

The North Vancouver hamlet is one of 11 participating Metro Vancouver neighbourhoods in this year’s Vancouver Mural Festival, on now through this coming Sunday, Aug. 22.

This is the first year that a North Shore neighbourhood has been featured in the mural festival, a non-profit arts organization dedicated to artistic and cultural development which runs annual street festivals and mural events.

In Edgemont, there are four murals on display around the neighbourhood’s commercial centre, including pieces by artists Cynthia Tran Vo, Kari Kristensen, Jessica Fortner, and Siobhan Joseph.

Through the initiative of Highland Optical owner Sharyn Webber, as well as other Edgemont business proprietors and the charitable cultural organization North Van Arts, the neighbourhood partnered with the mural festival to bring the four large-scale vibrant pieces to the community.

Live music events at Edgemont are also scheduled to kick off Thursday (Aug. 19) and last through the festival’s final weekend.

Visitors are encouraged to check out the neighbourhood, take some photos of the murals, and enjoy some performing arts. Visit Highland Optical’s Facebook page or the official Vancouver Mural Festival website for more information.
