Volunteers Needed: The North Vancouver Chapter of CARP - A New Vision of Aging for Canada is looking for volunteers for the executive board. CARP is a national, non-profit, non-partisan organization whose mandate is to promote and protect the interests, rights and quality of life for Canadians as they age. Rice Bowls, Broken Bottles and a Bathhouse in the Woods: The Elders Council for Parks in British Columbia will host a free presentation with archeology Prof. Bob Muckle Thursday, Oct. 11, 11 a.m. at the Heritage Centre, 1620 Mount Seymour Rd., North Vancouver. Muckle will talk about his research that has focused on excavating previously unknown Japanese logging camps dating to about 1920 in the Seymour Valley. Seniors Peer Support: Caring volunteers ages 55+ are needed to assist other seniors to help maintain their independence and to access resources in the community. Once a sufficient number of volunteers have registered, they will receive training by Seniors Peer Counselling B.C. Upon completion, participants will be assigned to visit senior clients.
