Putting together a unique and beautiful Mother's Day gift can be simple and easy.

Or you can forgo the standard glass vase of flowers and impress your mom at dinner with a striking cube table arrangement that she can take home with her.

Everything for this arrangement can be purchased at your local grocer. Look for a white or coloured cube vase but if you cannot source one, most grocery stores carry the glass variety.

Materials: 1 cube floral container Wet floral foam Sharp knife or floral scissors Assorted flowers Ribbon (optional)

I used one orchid stem and one large hydrangea head for my arrangement. That's all that was required and it was enough to fill the entire vase.

Cut a piece of floral foam to fit the inside of your cube. Soak your floral foam in room-temperature water for 20 minutes.

Once the foam is saturated, place inside the cube and fill with water three-quarters full.

If you are using a glass cube, you can hide the floral foam by wrapping a large leaf around the foam inside the vase.

Using a sharp knife, cut your flower stems on an angle and place inside the vase. Be sure to measure the stems so they fit snuggly inside the cube. It's always a good idea to start with the larger flowers first.

Once the flowers are inserted, you may add a ribbon bow here if you wish.

To make a pretty bow, take your thin ribbon and form six to seven loops leaving the cut end at the bottom. Once you have your loops, gather the loops in the middle and then in the middle once again.

Using a sharp pair of scissors, snip the sides of the folded ends on an angle. Take a wire and wrap it around the middle of the ribbon where you just cut. Twist very tightly then pull the loops of the ribbon out one by one and twist.

Cut the wire to the desired length to insert into the flower arrangement.
