NORTH Shore residents are invited to attend the 2011 Naturally Autistic International People Awards and Convention, running from Sept. 23 to 25 on the North Shore.

According to a written statement, the event celebrates the abilities and achievements of those in the international autistic community.

Those featured include Tammy Klein, Janet Panic, Samantha Ruderham, Scott Siegel and The Knotty Dotters. Others making presentations include Canadian pinball champion Robert Gagno, Joey Travolta, president of Inclusion Films and Temple Grandin, who is autistic and was portrayed by Clare Danes in the film Temple Grandin.

The event kicks off at Kay Meek Centre Friday, and the convention, workshops, and the gala awards and dinner dance fundraiser will be held at the Pinnacle Hotel at the Pier.
