Sweet treats with a lot of heart

Our little ones may be small in size, but there's one thing for sure: they have the biggest hearts. Let them celebrate this Valentine's Day by sharing some of their favourite sweets with those they love.

This year, offer that someone special treats displayed in cute, heart cookie cutters. It's a fun and whimsical way to present candies after dinner or during the day for all to enjoy.

Materials:

Heart gift box or heart-shaped tray

Assorted mini Valentine's candies (available at grocery & pharmacy stores)

Heart-shaped cookie cutters (available at HomeSense and other department stores)

Place your cookie cutters on your display box or serving tray and fill the cutters with an assortment of candy.

If you really want to go all out with a fantastic selection of candy this year for Valentine's then you really should check out one of my favourite candy stores here on the North Shore.

The first is Sugar & Co., 1348 Marine Drive, West Vancouver. This is a fantastic candy store that you will find a large variety of old-fashioned candy and some new varieties that will guarantee a smile on any child's face. Look for Swizzel's Love Hearts and Liquorice Allsorts, and who doesn't remember the good old-fashioned Whirly Pops.

Another fantastic candy store is Frankies Candy Bar, which closed its Dundarave location and has opened an online boutique and Kerrisdale storefront. Frankies features Jones Soda Carbonated Candy and King Of All Love Beads. Visiting this candy store is like a trip down memory lane. Look for Tooty Frooties and Sour Razzles to pretty up any dessert table on Valentine's Day.
