A North Vancouver teen is among the winners of the 2014 Vancouver Writers Fest's Spreading the Word writing contest for B.C.
Grade 11 Sutherland secondary student Anna Stead won second place in the short story category for her story "This Planet's Beauty" after first-prize winner, Vancouver's Kayla Zhu, a Grade 9 student at Eric Hamber secondary, for her story "Myrmidon."
First prize in each category is $300, with a second prize award of $200. The prize winners, selected by a panel of publishing and writing professionals, will be published in The Claremont Review, a magazine that showcases aspiring young writers, as well as on the Vancouver Writers Fest website.
