CALLING all North Shore animal lovers.

The BC SPCA's West Vancouver Branch is looking for residents from the North Shore to sit on a community council to help achieve the society's mission of protecting animals.

The SPCA has community councils in branches across the province. Each branch is made up of local residents who are looking to make a difference in the lives of animals in need. The council offers guidance in a wide variety of areas such as community outreach, and humane development.

Council members will be elected at the annual general meeting which is will be held on March 21 at 6 p.m., at the West Vancouver Shelter located on 1020 Marine Dr.

Last year the BC SPCA cared for more than 32,000 injured, abused and neglected animals. The West Vancouver shelter cared for 782 in 2011.

For more information about the role of community council members or how to join the West Vancouver Branch community council contact Rob Inman at inman.6218@ shaw.ca before March 21.
