Until Oct. 8, stopping in at a bookstore could help two cash-strapped elementary schools put a few more books on their shelves.
Sherwood Park Elementary and Queen Mary Community Elementary have both been picked to partake in the Indigo Adopt a School program, which allows community members to help schools buy books from Indigo.
During the campaign, any cash contributed at Indigo on Marine Drive will go to one of the two schools who can use the cash to buy Indigo books at a 30 per cent discount.
Each school is eligible to receive up to $1,200 for books through matching initiatives.
Schools are picked based on their library budget, which must be less than $30 per student per year, according to a release from Indigo.
For anyone looking to avoid Marine Drive, contributions can also be made online at adoptaschool.indigo.ca.
For every $20 contributed online, the Indigo Love of Reading Foundation will contribute $10, with a cap of $1,000.
Now in its ninth year, 573 schools are registered to participate in the program.
“By giving books to schools that need them the most, our goal is to give every child the chance to build a lifelong love of reading,” stated Indigo Love of Reading Foundation executive director Ariel Siller in a release.
