Servants of Hope

North Vancouver’s Tracy Clark helps raise awareness of the annual Feeding the Homeless at Christmas in Pigeon Park, an initiative of the Servants of Hope Society. For the ninth year, more than 150 people will gather at the Vancouver park at the corner of Carrall and Hastings streets Dec. 22 with a goal of bringing the message of hope and recovery. The majority of those involved have a history of substance abuse and a high percentage came from the Downtown Eastside. Now free from their addictions, they’re interested in giving back. On Dec. 22 society volunteers will conduct outreach with Downtown Eastside residents and distribute food and clothing items. Last year, 1,500 people were served a turkey dinner. Society members are looking to the community for donations of food, blankets and other gifts, warm clothing (mittens, gloves, hats and socks), chocolate, gift wrap and ribbon, as well as monetary donations to the society. To make a donation or for more information on the Servants of Hope Society, visit servantsofhope.ca or donate to its current crowdfunding campaign, chimp.net/groups/feeding-the-homeless-at-christmas-at-pigeon-park.
